Get To Know: Sean Roker, Senior Director of Marketing

  1. Tell us a bit about your professional journey?
    Almost all of my professional career has been in ecommerce-related marketing. I spent 7 years helping build the B2B marketing organization at a full-service ecommerce agency. Shortly after that, I joined a startup DTC tennis equipment/apparel company. And now, of course, I’m thrilled to join the Recurate team.
  2. Why were you interested in working at Recurate?
    A big reason is Recurate’s mission. The team has decades of experience in sustainability, resale, But really for me, at the end of the day, it is about the people and the culture. On the tough days–and there are always tough days–my extra motivation is fueled by the people around me.
  3. What do you enjoy about your role at Recurate?
    I love that we are making a positive impact on the planet. Resale is one of the few ways to increase sustainability while growing your business, and Recurate makes it very easy. I’m excited to have that conversation with brands and retailers.
  4. What excites you most about resale?
    It excites me that there are so many reasons to get into resale, and so many companies are embracing it! Sustainability, customer loyalty, additional revenue streams, bringing in new customers… any of these might be the primary motivation for a company to start a resale program. But regardless of why they start, they receive all of the benefits.
  5. What is your favorite secondhand buy?
    It’s not a buy since I inherited it, but it’s a diagonal-zip jacket from Armani Exchange. I don’t wear it all the time, but it’s one of my favorites.
